EVERGLADES CITY — A Collier County man was critically injured Saturday afternoon when he crashed his motorcycle on U.S. 41 East.
Curtis Ledbettter III was riding a Harley Davidson east, approaching Newport Drive, around 12:45 p.m. when the 47-year-old lost control as he drove over a bridge about 10 miles from the State Road 29 intersection, authorities said.
Ledbetter hit his head on a sign pole and was knocked off the motorcycle after striking the inside guardrail, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
He was taken by medical helicopter to Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers with severe head injuries, authorities said.
Alcohol isn’t considered a factor in the crash, according to FHP.
