TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras — A college student is accused of selling drugs out of his father's condo after Lee County sheriff…s deputies responded to a burglary call while he was out of town and found cash and drugs in the home.
Richard Henry Grimes Jr., 22, of the 23100 block of Fashion Dr., Estero, was arrested Sunday on charges of cocaine trafficking, marijuana possession, possession of an opiate, drug equipment possession, and possession of drugs with intent to sell.
Just after 7 p.m. on April 10, a neighbor heard someone kicking in a door and called deputies after he discovered Grimes'; condo wide open, reports said.
Deputies said they entered the condo for safety reasons. During a security check, deputies observed several indicators that Grimes was selling drugs, reports said. Unable to reach Grimes, deputies contacted his father, who told them he owns the condo and Grimes is living there while he attends Florida Gulf Coast University.
Detectives obtained a search warrant. Inside the condo they found about 95 grams of cocaine, a scale, marijuana, a food saver vacuum sealer which is commonly used to package drugs, Roxicodone pills, an electric money counting machine and several ledgers revealing sales and money owed, reports said.
Deputies said several large stacks of cash, totaling tens of thousands of dollars, were in the master bedroom along with 1,000 Xanax pills and plastic bags filled with gold jewelry and coins.
Grimes was visiting Miami when the burglary occurred, reports said.
