Victoria Macchi and Jeff Bruce

Lytle: One of the milestones in Collier County history in my time here was when the minorities ... you add them together and they make up a majority of the school population in Collier County Public Schools.

Macchi: It’s something we talked about with a few Hispanic leaders in town, and you know, they are very aware of that. How are we going to deal with that? What is that actually going to mean? I think that’s one of the things that came out in our coverage. We’re really going to have to look into that, explore it more, from the news side of things.

Lytle: Next week, Chapter 3 of the Lighthouse Project.

Bruce: Right. We started with history. This week we’re looking at a snapshot of where we are today, and then next week we’re going to be taking a look at some of the efforts that have been made in the past to envision what the future should be like.
