MARCO ISLAND — For the first time Junior Achievement and Mutual of Omaha Bank, Marco Island joined forces to educate one of Tommie Barfield’s second grade classes on what it takes to build a community.
Jennifer Stanley, Commercial Banker with Mutual of Omaha Bank, Marco Island spent one hour a week for 5 weeks teaching the class what it takes to build and run a local community. The class gained an understanding of the role of government, voting, running a business and movement of money.
To make this experience come alive, the entire Tommie Barfield second grade class will be taking a field trip to tour Mutual of Omaha Bank. A May date is currently being planned.
