North Naples brush fire threatening homes now 100 percent contained

Three homes in North Naples were evacuated as firefighters worked to put out a 25-acre brush fire.

The fire started around 4:45 p.m. in the area of Collier's Reserve, near Viking Way. The Sheriff's Office called for a temporary evacuation as a precaution, said spokeswoman Michelle Batten.

The fire, thought to be caused by lightning, originally threatened six homes. The fire was 100 percent contained by 6:45 p.m., said Victor Hill, a Florida Forest Service spokesman.
