Cody James Martin, 25, of the 3400 block of Balboa Circle East, East Naples, was arrested Aug. 4, 2012, charged with battery and openly carrying a weapon.

After unexpectedly jumping into a concerned driver’s open window, a 25-year-old East Naples man landed himself in jail.

Cody James Martin, 25, of the 3400 block of Balboa Circle East, was arrested Saturday by Collier County sheriff’s deputies after they say he fell out of — or was thrown out of — a black pickup on Airport-Pulling Road near Pinewood Circle.

Martin wore all black, including black tactical pants and combat boots, and carried a handgun, according to sheriff’s reports.

After he ended up stranded in the road, Martin flagged down a passing driver, jumped through his open passenger-side window and told him to turn down Poinciana Way.

When deputies stopped the car, Martin jumped out, carrying a fully-loaded 9mm gun in a holster on his right side with a tactical night light. When he was ordered at gunpoint to put his hands in the air, Martin did and then yelled, “Shooting me,” repeatedly.

After he was arrested, deputies noticed he was sweating and he started throwing up. Paramedics arrived on the scene to treat him, but he was uncooperative, spitting in the face of one of them, reports stated.

Martin was taken to the hospital, treated and then booked in the Naples jail.

Martin is charged with battery and openly carrying a weapon.
