43-year-old motorcyclist dies in Lee County crash

A 43-year-old Lehigh Acres man died Sunday in a motorcycle crash in Fort Myers.

Robert D Drumheller was killed in a three-vehicle crash that occurred about 5:30 p.m. Sunday on State Road 82, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to the FHP report, Bianca Crystal Melchor, 21, of Naples, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu west in the westbound lane of State Road 82 east of Harcourt Avenue when, for unknown reasons, she drove her vehicle over the double, yellow-painted, center lane divider lines and entered the eastbound lane of the highway, where her car sideswiped another car before striking Drumheller's motorcycle.

Drumheller was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, FHP reports.

Melchor, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries in the crash, but she refused treatment at the scene, FHP reports show.

The driver of the third vehicle, Jackson Pierre, 49, of Fort Myers, nor the passenger in his 2000 Lexus RX300 were injured. Both were wearing seat belts, reports show.

The FHP requests that anybody with information regarding this crash should contact Cpl. Jeff Rongish at 239-344-1730, ext. 1192.
