Collier County sheriff's deputies subdued a Golden Gate Estates man with their stun guns after they say he exposed himself and struggled with them.
Brendan Stephen Richard, 23, of the 9300 block of Marino Circle, is facing a felony charge of resisting an officer with violence and a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of an officer.
Early Tuesday deputies were searching for Richard with K9 and aviation units after they received reports that he may be suicidal, according to an arrest report. Just before 4 a.m. his mother alerted authorities that Richard had come home and was agitated.
When deputies arrived at his home, Richard's mother warned them that he would fight them if they attempted to take him into custody. When Richard came to the doorway, he refused to come outside to talk to the deputies and shut the door on them, reports said.
When the deputies told Richard they couldn't leave until they spoke with him, reports say he opened the door, said "what," and exposed himself. When deputies entered the home to take Richard into protective custody he told them to "do what you have to do," then struggled with them, reports said.
Deputies deployed their stun guns at least three times while struggling with Richard, reports said.
