— The death of a 44-year-old North Naples woman Wednesday marked the third time in a week Collier residents have awakened to crime scene tape strung up in their neighborhoods after homicides.

Concetta "Konnie" Bedell was found killed on her back porch on Flame Vine Drive around 6:45 a.m. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots in the area several hours earlier.

Bedell's death came exactly a week after Joseph Warren Godcharles, 48, was found dead by his son at his North Naples condo on Aug. 1. Then, on Saturday, Ernie Torres, 25, was shot to death through the window of his parents' Golden Gate home.

"I think the first question on everyone's mind is, are they related in any way? Evidence obtained so far indicates that there is no relationship between the three cases," Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said. "Certainly they are each critically important, and our condolences go to each of the families."

Detectives have not yet made public how Godcharles died, but Capt. Chris Roberts said he was not shot. Investigators recovered a weapon at the scene that is being processed for forensic evidence, along with other items. There was no forced entry into the home, Roberts said.

He declined to comment on whether anything was taken from Godcharles' condo at 8234 Key Royal Circle.

The Sheriff's Office has released few details about the homicide, as the case remains an ongoing investigation. Detectives believe Godcharles knew his killer, but they have not yet determined a possible motive for his killing.

"From most of the people we've talked to, he was a pillar in the community, more or less," Roberts said.

Torres was found dead Aug. 4 at his home at 2248 54th Terrace S.W. The 25-year-old died after being shot through his bedroom window at the front of the house.

Torres was still breathing when the first units reached the scene but stopped as EMS arrived, a report stated.Like Godcharles' death, detectives have not yet released a possible motive.Capt. Roberts said detectives have a "person of interest" in the killing, who is currently in jail locally on unrelated charges. Roberts declined to provide that person's name.
