Letter: In District 5 ...

In District 5 ...

Collier County Commission candidate Tim Nance talks like progress is his mantra.

Wow. Isn't this the anti-shopping center guy who helped cost us the "window of opportunity" to have our Estates Center built before an economic downturn?

Nance canceled his demands of a master plan restudy after seeing 76 percent supported the center. Nance wanted inadequate, five-acre mini centers. Now he says we will have to wait until economic conditions improve to see the project completed. Economic conditions are the way they are because self-serving people like Nance fought the 76 percent of the citizens who favored that project!

Now Nance is running for District 5 commissioner, pushing his anti-progress agenda. Candidate Nance will say and promise a lot for your vote. Nance's past positions are a true indicator of his future performance and ideals.

Our commissioners need to remember we elect them to represent us, and to accomplish our wishes, not the commissioners' personal agendas. Commissioners should embrace and enable the majorities' projects for the overall good of the community.

We deserve forward-thinking officials, and I support Jim Coletta. He backed Arthrex and 400-plus jobs in our district, along with the Estates shopping center. I believe all commissioners must remember we expect them to enable what the majority wants in each district and cease the petty games we see during their governing.

Vote Coletta for commissioner for the experience and support he has shown our community.
