High temperatures this afternoon will climb into the mid-90s, and with plenty of humidity, the "feels like" temperature will soar well above 100 degrees.

Rain prospects will gradually increase beginning Friday and continue into the weekend as deeper tropical moisture returns to Southwest Florida, NBC2 reports.

In the tropics, Tropical Storm Ernesto continues to strengthen as it moves quickly over Mexico's extreme southern Bay of Campeche, before making a second landfall on the central Mexican coastline sometime this afternoon.

Elsewhere, we are keeping an eye on another tropical wave located about 1,000 miles west of the Cape Verde islands. The National Hurricane Center is giving this a 70 percent chance for development into the next depression or tropical storm as conditions become a bit more favorable for gradual strengthening.

The tropical remnants of Florence also remain off the East Coast, but are not expected to restrengthen.
