State Rep. Carlos Trujillo, R-Miami, pulled ahead to win a race in House District 105 against Paul Crespo with about 56 percent of the vote.
Trujillo will face write-in candidate Raul Rene Robayna in the general election come November.
Trujillo was first elected to the state House in 2010, representing portions of Miami-Dade County. District 105 boundaries have changed this year, edging in a portion of Trujillo’s current District 116, as well as parts of Golden Gate and eastern Collier County.
In 2010, Crespo ran for the Republican nomination for Congress in District 25 but lost. He is president and founder of the nonprofit Civica Americana, which aims to educate Hispanic voters about American government.
House District 105 encompasses about 1,700 square miles from Collier County to Miami-Dade and south to Key West.
