'Daily NewsMakers with Jeff Lytle' ... Tim Nance, Republican primary winner in Collier County Commissioner District 5 election

Two of the big winners from Tuesday’s Republican primary and a new, local link to the Mayo Clinic are featured on this week’s Naples Daily NewsMakers with Jeff Lytle program airing Sunday morning at 10 on ABC7.

Trey Radel, who swept a crowded U.S. House District 19 field, and Tim Nance, who beat 12-year incumbent Collier County Commissioner Jim Coletta in the Republican primary, join Dr. Allen Weiss of NCH Healthcare System, who unveils local access to the Mayo Clinic’s medical expertise.

Lytle: Is the economic development framework that the County Commission has already put in place, is that now fair game for you to take another look at as a new commissioner?

Nance: I think it’s clear that everybody wants an economic development entity and an effort.

Lytle: The devil’s in the details.

Nance: Well, the devil’s in the details. We haven’t fleshed it out yet. It seems to me like it’s the EDC (Economic Development Council) deja vu. And that’s ... I have said I thought the people we had with the EDC were wonderful people. But we didn’t have a product they could sell.

And that’s what I think we have to work on. We have to work on the practical application of a lot of good ideas.
