POMPANO BEACH — The National Transportation Safety Board is sending an agent to investigate the death of a woman who fell into the Atlantic Ocean when her harness broke while parasailing.
The agency said Friday that Larry Bowling will assist the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the U.S. Coast Guard in investigating the death of 28-year-old Kathleen Miskell of Connecticut.
Mniskell and her husband were parasailing while vacationing in South Florida on Wednesday. Officials say she plummeted as much as 200 feet into the water.
Officials say the boat crew reeled in her husband and circled back to rescue the woman. Miskell was in cardiac arrest and the captain performed CPR until the boat met up with paramedics. Authorities say Miskell was pronounced dead at a hospital.
