Southwest Florida International Airport traffic increased in July compared to a year ago.
During July, 464,896 passengers traveled through the airport, an increase of 1.7 percent compared to July 2011, officials said Friday. So far this year, passenger traffic is down 5.3 percent from the same time period of 2011.
Delta flew the most passengers in July with 117,011 traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran (73,610), Southwest (71,448), JetBlue (55,975) and US Airways (45,775).
The airport had 5,096 takeoffs and landings, a decrease of 0.9 percent compared to July 2011. Page Field saw 6,264 movements, a 16 percent increase from July 2011.
Kohl's donates more than $74,000 to children's hospital
Kohl's Department Stores is donating $74,125 to the Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida for the Kohl's Kids Safety Program.
The program helps educate families and children on the importance of child passenger safety and drowning prevention. The donation will be presented at 11 a.m. today at Tice Community Pool, 4515 Glenwood Ave., Fort Myers.
Stonegate Bank names Fenner VP of commercial banking in Naples
Stonegate Bank has named Melissa Fenner vice president, relationship manager, of commercial banking in Naples.
Fenner brings more than 13 years of banking experience to Stonegate. She will focus on loan and deposit growth and fostering relationships with new and existing clients in Southwest Florida.
She formerly worked as a vice president for Fifth Third Bank in Dayton. Before relocating to Ohio, Fenner lived in Southwest Florida for seven years, working as a commercial banker.
Foundation donates $5,000 to Lee schools
Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union Foundation has donated $5,000 to the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools during its back-to-school supply drive.
The money will be used to buy school supplies and other necessities for the Foundation's Teacher Resource Center, created to collect and store new and reusable items that are donated to benefit teachers, students and schools. More than 150 teachers visit the Resource Center each month to gather supplies for their classrooms and students in need.
