Collier County Road Alerts for Aug. 16

This ROAD ALERT was prepared by the Collier County Growth Management Division to inform the community about scheduled road construction and road maintenance projects along major roadways in Collier County where lane closures are planned or traffic flow may be affected.

COLLIER COUNTY CONSTRUCTION/MAINTENANCE PROJECTS:

Connecticut Avenue between Airport-Pulling Road and Shadowlawn Boulevard – On Connecticut Avenue between Airport-Pulling Road and Shadowlawn Boulevard expect traffic to be reduced to ONE LANE ONLY through Friday, Aug. 24 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue stormwater improvement work for the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Agency Stormwater Project. Flagmen, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist drivers traveling through the area.

Devonshire Boulevard between Radio Road and Santa Barbara Boulevard – On Devonshire Boulevard between Radio Road and Santa Barbara Boulevard expect intermittent lane closures in short segments for approximately three months from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue landscaping and irrigation installation. Flagmen, lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist drivers traveling through the area.

Goodlette-Frank Road and 26th Avenue North Intersection – At the intersection of Goodlette-Frank Road and 26th Avenue North expect northbound and southbound traffic to be diverted from three lanes to two lanes on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews perform median improvements. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist drivers traveling through the area.

Immokalee Road and U.S. 41 Intersection At the intersection of Immokalee Road and U.S. 41 expect intermittent lane closures in all directions beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 22 and continuing through Monday, Aug. 27 OVERNIGHT FROM 8 P.M. TO 6 A.M., weather permitting, as crews refurbish the mast arms. Also, beginning on Tuesday, Aug. 28 and continuing for approximately three weeks expect intermittent lane closures in the same location from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews paint the mast arms. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist drivers traveling through the area.

Linwood Avenue between Shadowlawn Boulevard and Airport-Pulling Road On Linwood Avenue between Shadowlawn Boulevard and Airport-Pulling Road expect traffic to be reduced to ONE LANE ONLY through Friday, Aug. 31 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue stormwater improvement work for the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Agency Stormwater Project. Flagmen, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist drivers traveling through the area.

Linwood Avenue between Shadowlawn Boulevard and Linwood Way On Linwood Avenue between Shadowlawn Boulevard and Linwood Way expect traffic to be reduced to ONE LANE ONLY through Friday, Aug. 31 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue stormwater improvement work for the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Agency Stormwater Project. Flagmen, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist drivers traveling through the area.

Magnolia Pond Drive and City Gate Drive off of Collier Boulevard (C.R. 951) On Magnolia Pond Drive just west of Collier Boulevard (C.R. 951) expect traffic to be shifted slightly for approximately three weeks, weather permitting, as crews continue work to place pipes underground next to the roadway. Also, on City Gate Drive just east of Collier Boulevard (C.R. 951) expect traffic to be shifted to one side of the median for approximately three weeks, weather permitting, as crews continue their work to place pipes underground next to the roadway. Electronic message signs, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist drivers traveling through the area.

Road between Santa Barbara Boulevard and Davis Boulevard On Radio Road between Santa Barbara Boulevard and Davis Boulevard expect eastbound and westbound intermittent lane closures for approximately five months from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue landscaping and irrigation installation. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist motorists traveling through the area.

Shadowlawn Drive between Davis Boulevard and Lois Street On Shadowlawn Drive between Davis Boulevard and Lois Street expect traffic to be reduced to ONE LANE ONLY through Friday, Aug. 24 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue stormwater improvement work for the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Agency Stormwater Project. Flagmen, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist drivers traveling through the area.

Taylor Road between Pine Ridge Road and J&C Boulevard On Taylor Road between Pine Ridge Road and J&C Boulevard expect northbound and southbound intermittent lane closures for approximately three months from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue work to install drainage pipe. Flagmen, lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist drivers traveling through the area.

U.S. 41 and Vanderbilt Beach Road Intersection At the intersection of U.S. 41 and Vanderbilt Beach Road expect intermittent lane closures in all directions for approximately two weeks, weather permitting, as crews refurbish traffic signal poles. OVERNIGHT work will continue through Friday, Aug. 17 from 8 p.m. TO 6 a.m. then crews will switch to daytime work on Monday, Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, for approximately two weeks. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist drivers traveling through the area.

Veterans Park Drive between Immokalee Road and the Veterans Park entranceOn Veterans Park Drive between Immokalee Road and the Veterans Park entrance expect traffic to be reduced to ONE LANE ONLY beginning on Monday Aug. 20 and continuing through Tuesday, Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews resurface the road. Flagmen, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist drivers traveling through the area.

Warren Street between Carolina Avenue and St. Andrews Boulevard WARREN STREET BETWEEN CAROLINA AVENUE AND ST. ANDREWS BOULEVARD IS CLOSED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS, weather permitting, as crews working on the Naples Manor North Canal Improvement Project install a box culvert. Local traffic will be accommodated. A detour route will be posted utilizing U.S. 41. Advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist motorists.

Collier Boulevard (S.R. 951) & I-75 Interchange On Collier Boulevard (S.R. 951) at the I-75 interchange as well as on the ramps for I-75 expect intermittent lane closures as the Florida Department of Transportation’s contractor, APAC Southeast, makes improvements to the interchange ramps, adding new mast arm traffic signals and placing new pavement markings and signs. Activities involve working on the northbound on ramp and adding curb and sidewalk at the southbound off ramp and northbound on ramp. Crews will also be working on mast arm traffic signals at all ramps. Drivers should plan extra travel time if destinations are time-sensitive. Message boards will alert drivers when lane closures are scheduled. Completion is expected in fall 2012, weather permitting.

Davis Boulevard between Radio Road and Santa Barbara Boulevard On Davis Boulevard between Radio Road and Santa Barbara Boulevard, the Florida Department of Transportation’s contractor is making improvements that include expanding the road to six lanes. Crews will be placing temporary asphalt along both the eastbound and westbound sides of the roadway between Santa Barbara Boulevard to east of Firano Drive and Wildwood Lakes Boulevard. This work will create temporary traffic lanes allowing for a traffic shift while the new roadway is constructed. There will be intermittent lane closures during these activities. This work is anticipated to take approximately three weeks, weather permitting. Motorists are advised to use caution and watch for workers in the construction zone. The project is scheduled for completion at the end of 2013. The contractor is Guymann Construction.

Immokalee Road between Olde Cypress Boulevard and Saturnia Grande Drive On Immokalee Road between Olde Cypress Drive and Saturnia Grande Drive expect eastbound and westbound traffic to be diverted from three lanes to two lanes beginning on Tuesday, Aug. 21 and continuing through Friday, Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews from Cabana Construction make a new utility connection for the Lantana subdivision. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist drivers traveling through the area.

S.R. 29 from Oil Well Road to Immokalee Road This Florida Department of Transportation project resurfaces the roadway and includes sidewalk, shoulder and guardrail work as well as signal modifications at Farm Workers Village. Crews are paving the roadway, grading shoulders, placing sod, installing permanent signs and working on the signal at Farm Workers Village. Construction is planned six days a week, during the day and overnight, beginning Sunday night, weather permitting. Lane closures are required and motorists should expect delays. All travel lanes will remain open from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists are advised to watch for pedestrians and bicyclists, obey flagging operations, observe posted speed limits and drive with caution in the construction zone. Completion is estimated for fall 2012. The contractor is C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc.
