Our family is grateful for the opportunity to thank the wonderful, caring, and committed professionals who, through their most timely lifesaving actions, were instrumental in the rescue of our son after his recent jet ski accident.
From the time the first-responders were notified to when he was reached and we received their call was only nine minutes. These people include the teams of Marco Island, the Isles of Capri, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, most notably Officer Jason Tidwell, who took extra care of things while we were at the hospital with our son.
The staff at Physicians Regional wasted no time and prepared him for the airlift to Lee Memorial Hospital. Their trauma unit, the two doctors who performed the emergency surgery there, and the ICU Unit (Go Blue!) were what kept him, and us, going at the time.
His friends and their parents from Lely High School and the ROTC stopped what they were doing and came to the hospital right away to wait and pray with us while he was in surgery, and after. Family and friends from all over the country contacted us, asking what they could do to help, sending their thoughts and prayers as well.
It goes without saying that our son has a long road ahead of him. Thanks to all of you, he’s on the right one and he has already succeeded in taking his first steps.
Bless All of You,
The Smith Family
