It's Your Business: WCI hosts leadership seminar Oct. 11

WCI Communities will host a People First leadership seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 11 at Pelican Preserve in Fort Myers.

Registration is $250 per person and includes a daylong training session, a People First book, breakfast, lunch and a certificate of completion. WCI will donate all event proceeds to the United Way of Lee, Hendry and Glades counties.

Donated dress sale is today in Estero

Employees of the Southwest Florida law firm Goldstein, Buckley, Cechman, Rice & Purtz donated more than 60 pounds of gently used clothing, shoes and accessories to benefit the PACE Center for Girls of Lee County.

The collection included donations from employees, family members and friends made during the past month.

All dresses donated will be resold at PACE's Love That Dress! event from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Estero. Tickets are on sale at lovethatdress.org. Proceeds from Love That Dress! benefit PACE Center for Girls, a nonresidential juvenile delinquency prevention and intervention program targeting the unique needs of girls, ages 12 to 18, facing challenges such as physical and sexual abuse, domestic violence, substance abuse, foster care, neglect, death of a parent, family history of incarceration and declining grades.

Capture Higher Ed, an enrollment management firm created from leadership at Miller/Cook & Associates in Marco Island and a Kentucky-based company, has appointed Steven A. Huey as chief executive officer.

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce will present the second class of its Education Seminar Series — Create Your Business Plan & Strategy — from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 7 at the Royal Palm Yacht Club.
