All lanes of Interstate 75 have reopened following a crash near Bonita Beach Road around 12:20 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said James Lawrence Brunelle, 37, of Port Charlotte, was driving a 2008 Peterbilt 335 truck northbound on the interstate Wednesday when a front tire underwent tread separation. Brunelle lost control of the truck and hit a cable barrier in the median, causing the truck to rollover several times, according to FHP.
Brunelle was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition, said FHP spokesman Lt. Greg Bueno.
FHP reports indicated Brunelle was not wearing his seat belt. Alcohol was not suspected as a factor in the crash, reports said.
Some northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 75 near Bonita Beach Road are closed after a single-vehicle crash at about 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
A 37-year-old man was flown from the scene with injuries, FHP Lt. Gregory Bueno said. As of 1:20 p.m., he was listed in stable condition at an area hospital, he said.
The crash involved a truck with a trailer, Bueno said. Traffic is moving through two open northbound lanes and one open southbound lane.
