Local youth column: Immokalee Seminole's Aberham Aice named to youth all-American game

Based on his performance for Team Southwest Florida in the opening round of the Football University national tournament on Dec. 1 in Orlando, Aberham Aice of Immokalee has been selected to play in the FBU/Eastbay seventh-grade All American game in San Antonio in early January.

A 5-foot-10, 190-pound defensive lineman and running back, Aice, who represents the Immokalee Seminoles youth football organization, will suit up for the East team. The game is part of FBU's U.S. Army All-America Bowl week between Jan 2 and 6, and will be played at Alamodome.

Aice's seventh-grade Southwest Florida team had mixed results at the Orlando tournament. SWFL lost 20-7 to South Florida on Dec. 1. The next day, SWFL defeated Sarasota 26-8. Despite that win, SWFL did not advance to the semifinals in Atlanta.

The same was true for the SWFL sixth-grade team and the eighth-grade team. The sixth-graders lost to South Florida 32-6 on in their first game and 26-0 to Central Florida in their second try.

The eighth-grade team also lost to South Florida, 26-8, but rebounded on the following day to defeat Sarasota 28-0 the next day.

Standout players for the Southwest Florida teams were Jacquez Boston, William Scott, Vladimyer Bouzi, Bryce Brown, and Ricky Gibson.
