The Christmas House, Business and Condominium Decorating Contest begins Monday, announced Chairman, Dave Rice. Enthusiasm is building among Marco Island residents as early decorations already displayed.

In 2011, the contest included over 1800 homes and 125 businesses judged. Marco Island has long been noted for the many outstanding Christmas decorated homes. Residents and visitors alike add to their Christmas spirit by driving around the Island to see the innovative decorations. The contest is an independent Florida Corporation operated by members of the committee, funded and supported financially by sponsors and committee members.

Preliminary judging: Monday and Tuesday

"Judging the winner in the House and Business Decorating begins on Dec. 14 and is a difficult task. One that the decorating judges take very seriously," said Jeanne Rice, co-chairman for the House Decorating Contest, the committee divides the Island into nine geographic areas and travel on every road on Marco evaluating the decorated properties.
