An East Naples man is accused of taking advantage of a good Samaritan and stealing her jewelry.
George Stidham, 40, of the 400 block of Marathon Court, was arrested Wednesday by Collier deputies at the 2000 block of River Reach Drive in Naples. He is accused of dealing in stolen property, defrauding a pawnbroker and grand theft.
Stidham met a woman last month who reported missing a gold chain and sea horse charm the day after his visit.
A week later, the woman allowed Stidham to shower at her home while she was at work.
She later noticed a piece of jewelry on her bathroom counter that is normally kept in a clothing drawer. After searching her own belongings, she realized multiple pieces of jewelry were missing.
Collier deputies performed a pawn search and discovered Stidham had recently pawned jewelry at a local dealer. The diamond ring he pawned was determined to be the woman’s, valued at about $400.
