A Golden Gate man is accused of stealing a package from a driveway after it was delivered by a UPS driver.

Timothy Michael Pickett, 23, of the 4600 block of Sunset Road, was arrested Friday by Collier deputies and charged with burglary of an unoccupied residence and petty theft.

According to reports, a disheveled Pickett was spotted riding his bike behind a UPS truck and watching the delivery of a package at the 1900 block of 46th Terrace Southwest. He slowed his bike, so he did not get too close to the delivery person.

After the UPS driver left the home, Pickett began doing circles in the road near where the package had been delivered. Shortly after, he drove into the driveway where the package was delivered, but did not take it. He then drove away, but returned about an hour later, where a deputy saw him carry away the package.

Pickett was arrested near his home and admitted to stealing the package, which contained a pair of white knee high women’s boots, purchased from urbanog.com and valued at $27.70.
