Sheila's Out Shopping: Tasty holiday gifts

Give gifts with good taste

This holiday season give a tasty gift. I was going to shop for gifts that had a good taste, but decided that gifts that would taste good would be more fun. I found ornaments, pet toys, kitchen accessories and more that look good enough to eat.

Target is where I found candy ornaments (three for $5) to sweeten your Christmas tree. Don't worry these ornaments are so much larger than actual candy children won't try to unwrap them.

Man's best friend will adore the candy cane ($12) and gingerbread man ($15) rope Jax Bones dog toys from BR uno. They might not have the taste of candy and cookies, but these toys are natural, eco-friendly and non-toxic and will amuse every breed of dog.

Pier 1 is where you can get gingerbread men measuring spoons ($12.95). These ceramic spoons will make baking Christmas cookies more fun and will keep your little helpers amused. You can also decorate your table with peppermint candy look alike place mats ($5.95 each). Every meal will be sweeter eaten off these table covers. If you want to fill your house with mood lights you can get peppermint creme candles ($7.20 to $13.60) or candy holders for tealight candles ($5.95 each).

Kohl's is where you can get gingerbread men kitchen towels ($4.99 for two) or a kitchen towel and potholder set ($4.99) but I really liked the sugarcookie recipe place mats ($3.20 each). These will make every meal a sweet one.

Sometimes shopping can be a treat.

IKE LIKES IT

Ike ordered a new dish at Charlie Chiang's, 12200 U.S. 41 N., Naples, and ended up eating a second order.

The verdict: I tried the beef pancake from Charlie Chiang's new tapas menu and had to order two portions, because it was so good. I like their scallion pancakes but this dish is something I don't want to share because it is so delicious. I really think this dish should be an entree instead of an appetizer.
