Detectives in Lee County are looking for three people who took money from unmanned cash registers at a Fort Myers Walmart last week.

On Dec. 4, a security officer at the store told deputies a woman had been holding a clipboard and posing as a Walmart employee while two other people took money from three unattended registers. One of the suspects had a key to open them, detectives said.

The woman with the clipboard stood 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-7, with dark brown hair. She was wearing a dark blue shirt and tan pants.

One of the people taking money from the registers was a black man in his late 30s, about 6-foot-3 and wearing a white striped shirt and jeans. The second person was a black woman, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and wearing a blue shirt and jeans.

All three suspects were seen leaving in a silver Ford Escape SUV. Detectives believe the trio also was involved in similar thefts in North Port and Port St. Lucie.

Anyone who can help identify the people in surveillance images is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 239-477-1000, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.
