Detectives investigating home invasion robbery

Collier detectives are investigating a home invasion robbery of a North Naples house on Wednesday morning.

Around 11:45 a.m., deputies responded to the 100 block of Viking Way, where they found an elderly man injured in his garage.

The man said two men came into his house with a firearm and battered him before leaving with his property, Detective Wade Williams said.

Gasoline was used in the commission of the crime, Williams said. The victim was released from the hospital with minor injuries Wednesday afternoon, according to the detective.

Williams declined to provide a description of the suspects or the vehicle in which they left, and he could not say if the victim knew the intruders.

No further details were available, and the case remains under investigation.
