An 11-year-old boy was seriously injured Thursday afternoon when the car he was riding in was T-boned after turning in front of another vehicle.
David Nichols of Collier County was a passenger in a 2000 Honda Civic driven by 16-year-old Ricardo Nichols, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. The Civic was traveling north on Collier Boulevard when Ricardo Nichols attempted to make a left turn onto 11th Avenue Southwest.
Ricardo Nichols failed to see a Lincoln Town Car traveling south on Collier Boulevard because there was a large truck in the median blocking his view, reports said.
The Lincoln struck the right side of the Civic when Ricardo Nichols entered the intersection.
David Nichols sustained serious injuries and was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital, the FHP reported. Ricardo Nichols and David D. Dungan, 72, the driver of the Lincoln, were not injured.
