Prep football: 5A title game filled with Division-I recruits

The Class 5A championship game today in Orlando pitting Immokalee vs. Tallahassee-Godby will show case a ton of talent. Here is a look at the players and where they are or might be heading to college.

Mackenro Alexander, senior, linebacker – Has offers from 16 Bowl Championship Series schools. Gave a verbal commitment to Florida State, but the Seminoles have yet to accept.

Mackensie Alexander, senior, defensive back – Committed to Tennessee in January but has since decommitted. Ranked the sixth-best player in the Class of 2013 by ESPN, he has offers from more than two dozen major Division I colleges.

Jimmy Bayes, junior, tight end/defensive end – Offers from Missouri, Rutgers and Vanderbilt according to recruiting website Rivals.

J.C. Jackson, junior, receiver/defensive back – Committed to Florida State after his sophomore season. Also has offers from Florida, Miami and Alabama.

D'Ernest Johnson, junior, running back – Gave verbal to Florida this fall, but Gators have not accepted. Georgia, Mississippi and Louisville also have offered scholarships.

Tshumbi Johnson, senior, quarterback – Committed to South Florida in the offseason before the Bulls pulled their offer. Now committed to Cincinnati.

Jacky Marcellus, senior, running back – Ranked the No. 18 all-purpose back in his class, committed to West Virginia.

Xavier Richardson, senior, receiver/defensive back – Committed to South Florida, but reports are that the offer has been pulled.

Deadrin Senat, senior, defensive lineman – Committed to Florida State before decommitting. Has 25 BCS scholarship offers.

TALLAHASSEE-GODBY

Khalid Thomas, senior, running back/athlete — He has committed to Kentucky with new coach and former Florida State defensive coordinator Mark Stoops.

Tim Longmire, senior, running back — He has a slew of D-I offers including ones from Cincinnatti, Kentucky, South Florida and South Carolina.

Deion Singleton, junior, defensive back — The 6-foot-2 speedster has offers from about a dozen schools including South Florida, University of Miami, Arkansas and Tennessee.

Lester Thomas, senior, cornerback— The 5-foot-10, 165-pounder has committed to play at Florida International University.

Earl Calloway, senior, wide receiver — The 6-foot-1 standout has an offer from Tennessee State and has been shown interest from South Carolina and University of Central Florida.

Jamaul Vickers, senior, wide receiver — The 6-foot-1 pass catcher has offers from Florida International, Clemson, Vanderbilt; also Alabama has shown interest.

Luke Helms, senior, linebacker — The 225-pounder has offers from about a dozen schools including South Alabama, Elon and Memphis.

Kris Harris, junior, linebacker — The 230-pounder has offers from Mississippi and Mississippi State.

Jacob Pugh, junior, linebacker — The 205-pounder has offers from Vanderbilt, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Jaylin Howard, sophomore, athlete — He already has an offer from Florida International and schools such as Florida State and Notre Dame have shown interest.
