TAMPA — A taxicab driver who was shot during a robbery attempt is in serious condition at a Tampa hospital.
Tampa police say the unidentified driver was shot early Tuesday morning after dropping off a passenger. The suspect was standing next to the taxi with a shotgun in his hands when he pointed the shotgun at the driver and demanded money.
Police say the driver tossed money out of the window before the suspect shot him in the chest.
A passenger in the back seat tried to get out during the robbery. He was not injured. Police say he's not a suspect.
