Memphis (Tenn.) Southwind, the No. 12 ranked team in the nation by ESPN, earned a spot in the City of Palms Classic semifinals with a 88-70 victory Thursday night over Lake Wales.

Marquette-committ JaJuan Johnson paced the Jaguars with 27 points and Missouri-committ John Williams III added 20 points and collected 13 rebounds. Johnson's team-high five steals sparked the swarming Southwind defense.

"I thought we came out and defensively got off to a good start," Southwind head coach Paul Edwards said. "We got some steals and some early bucks — some easy buckets."

Lake Wale never led at any point of the game. The Highlanders surrendered the ball 25 times and committed 18 turnovers. Southwind took advantage of the Highlanders' miscues as they converted on 67 percent of their free throw attempts.

Southwind will play Highland (Utah) Lone Peak in the City of Palms Classic semifinal on at 7 p.m.
