Fairfax (Va.) Paul VI, ranked No. 12 by ESPN, cruised Friday over Orlando-Lake Highland, 64-47, in a consolation semifinal at the City of Palms Classic.
“We executed our game plan” said Paul VI head coach Glen Farello. “It felt good getting ahead today early, and holding on to the lead through the entire game. Paul VI defeated Plano (Texas) Prestonwood Christian by only one point in Thursday’s game.
Paul VI’s Marcus Derrikson, a 6-foot-6 forward who has offers from Indiana, Georgetown and Maryland among others, led all scorers with 17 points.
Junior Jay Henderson, a 6-foot-4 guard who has offers from Florida State, Stanford and Purdue, paced Lake Highland with 13 points.
