A Golden Gate man was arrested Thursday after Collier County sheriff's deputies said they found brass knuckles in his car.

Deputies pulled over Justin Billy Lee Wimmer, 33, around 8:45 p.m. for failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign, according to an arrest report. Deputies saw a handgun and a pair of brass knuckles in Wimmer's car, but Wimmer said he had a concealed carry permit.

A background check on Wimmer showed he did have a permit, but state statute does not allow permit holders to carry brass knuckles, reports said.

Wimmer, of the 2100 block of 52nd Terrace Southwest, faces a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
