An East Naples man is accused of punching a former coworker after spotting her car in traffic.

Just after 1 p.m. Wednesday, a witness said he was driving on Davis Boulevard near Country Barn Road when he saw a man leaning into a woman's window and punching her in the face, according to an arrest report. The witness followed the man, later identified as Marco T. Arias, as he and the woman continued to drive down Davis.

All three cars went south on Country Barn Road and pulled over on Rattlesnake Hammock Road, where they were met by Collier County sheriff's deputies. The woman was visibly shaken but did not require medical care, according to an arrest report.

The woman told deputies Arias, 56, was mad at her because she had filed a lawsuit against him while the two were employed at a local car dealership. Arias denied punching the woman, saying he was "only trying to shake her hand."

Arias, of the first block of Lanai Circle, faces a misdemeanor charge of battery.
