An Estero man is accused of intentionally smashing his truck into another vehicle in a fit of rage.
Gordon Douglas Gaskill III, 38, of the 4900 block of Mederia Lane, was arrested Wednesday by Fort Myers police at the intersection of State Road 82 and Ortiz Avenue. He is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving with property damage.
At approximately 10 a.m., the victim was traveling west on State Road 82 in her Toyota Camry when she noticed a white Ford pickup tailgating her and attempting to move her out of the way. The truck pulled along side her and tried to force her off the road, according to arrest reports.
At Lee Boulevard., the truck pulled in front of her and stopped in the roadway. The driver, Gaskill, got out screaming and walked toward her. He eventually got back into his truck and both vehicles continued as the victim called for help, reports said.
The victim told police Gaskill stopped at a red light at Ortiz Avenue with her vehicle behind him. The tires squealed and he reversed the truck into her car, landing on her hood. Fort Myers police arrived as Gordon exited his truck. According to reports, he was screaming and headed toward the victim. The victim and her boyfriend exited her Toyota, and officers say they had to separate both parties.
Gordon was arrested and taken to Lee County jail without incident. There were no injuries reported.
