What to hear something great? Something inspiring?
Listen to Steven Coburn, a student at Barron Collier High School, sing our national anthem.
I heard him do "The Star-Spangled Banner'' at last weekend's Empty Bowls fundraiser at Cambier Park.
He was a big hit.
I asked him if we could post a video of him singing that song, and he came to the Daily News for an impromptu concert in our lobby.
Here is the video, made with a simple Flipcam.
Imagine how he would sound with a good sound system.

This is a biographical note from Coburn:
I'm a junior at Barron Collier High School, and I am a very active member of the choir program there (directed by Todd Peterson). I began singing at 11 years old (6th grade) and joined the Philharmonic Center Youth Choral in 8th grade and now sing in the Philharmonic Center Choral. Singing is a passion of mine, and I'm very lucky to have enjoyed continuous support of my singing by my parents (Robert & Dr. Marta Coburn), although they are not particularly musically inclined themselves. At the moment, I do not plan to pursue music in college or as a career, but still wish to continue singing as a hobby through my life. Thank you so much for the opportunity to sing for you (and your camera), and I hope that will not be the last time you hear me.
