Collier County Property Appraiser Abe Skinner has filed his initial papers to seek reelection to his seat.
Skinner, who has filed as a Republican, said by using his many years of appraisal experience, he has been able to provide the fairest and most equitable property values to the people of Collier County.
He will face Kevin Lilly in the August Republican primary. Lilly was the property appraiser's director of tax roll compliance before the state's resign to run law forced him to leave his position, in the August Republican primary.
Skinner touts an ability to build trust and his use of an open door policy as two of the ways his office provides high levels of customer service. Skinner said over the last decade, he has returned an average of $1 million per year to the County's general fund. His current budget is 1.3 percent less than it was 10 years ago, he said.
He also said by improving the technological capabilities of the office he has held for more than 20 years, he has been able to provide citizens with up to date website information and aerial photography.
Skinner and his wife, Martha, have two children and two grandchildren.
