Collier County sheriff's deputies arrested a homeless man who has been living in a Golden Gate laundromat after they say he attacked a patron who declined his assistance on Monday.

Hersueen V. Pugh, 30, of Fort Myers is facing a battery charge.

Pugh had been staying in the Golden Gate Laundry Center for two days, attempting to collect money from patrons, according to an arrest report. Just before 4 p.m., another man entered the business and started placing his laundry in the machine.

Pugh approached and asked the man if he needed help with his laundry. When the man said no, reports say Pugh punched him in the face, knocking him over his laundry cart and on to the ground. When the victim attempted to get up, Pugh kicked him and then fled, reports said.

Deputies located Pugh and arrested him.
