MARCO ISLAND — When a Marco Island man discovered another man calling his wife's phone, he lured him to his house and attacked him with a bat, according to Marco police.
Chanel Noel, 38, of the 100 block of Bald Eagle Drive, was arrested Thursday by Marco officers at home.
According to arrest reports, when officers arrived at the residence they found the victim flagging them down while he held his neck and head. The victim told officers that he had just been chased from the residence and was attacked by a man who beat him with a baseball bat.
When the victim was asked what had happened that night, he told officers that he had reconnected with Noel's wife on Friday at Reflections Bar.
The victim told officers that he also saw Chanel's wife a second time on Sunday.
According to reports, the victim said that Chanel's wife had been sending him texts earlier in the night for him to sneak into her home thru the back door so they could see each other.
Little did he know those texts were being sent from someone else.
After officers made contact with Chanel he told them that during the middle of the night his wife's cell phone kept ringing and it was the same number that was calling. He told officers that this caused him to become jealous and he then started sending text messages to the man pretending to be his wife telling him to sneak in the back door.
When the man entered Chanel's home thru the back door, Chanel greeted him by hitting him with a baseball bat, causing bruises and abrasions to the man's head and neck, according to reports.
Chanel now faces a felony charge of aggravated battery.

Such mischief by Chanel could have been avoided had our City council fast-tracked the mini-golf construction proposals....

>>> Next time I run into Chanel at the Yacht Club, I must ask this ornament of our community why he neglected to handle this grave dilemma as would his pere; namely, by casting a potent Voodoo curse on his nemesis and thus transforming him into one of those many zombies we encounter stumbling vacantly around the island, especially during Season.

Voted as "Crime act of the year 2012" on Marco Island. Our keystone cops will be happy to have one single case. By the way. I hear Joey Pizza got an official apologies from city council and police chief. Nothing in the press until now.

You would be right. MN snuck it in as a picture of Don Hunter yesterday on an article. Once you clicked it, it would redirect to where you could read a very short paragraph about it. Sneaky Sneaky

The cheating texts are everywhere...give this guy credit for finding out who the boyfriend was and luring him....the only thingChanel did wrong was not erasing the texts...would have been break and entry otherwise...

It was in the Sun Times. I guess their reporter didn't fall asleep at the council meeting.

Absolute shame that Chief Hunter had to apologize, or that anyone had to apologize to Joey Pizza!
He should have to apologize to the island for being an #$@^*le and serving such lousy pizza!

Come on - be fair! What will you say if you will be handcuffed by police officers based on a false statement. This has Russian class under Stalin. That is not America. Under god and the land of the free.
