NeNe's Kitchen stays clean at 11-0 in Marco City Softball League

NeNe’s Kitchen stayed unbeaten in Marco City Softball League action.

Here are the results in order of games played.

Joey’s Pizza, 20, Nacho

Mama’s, 4

Joey’s Pizza stayed hot, defeating the struggling Nacho Mama’s, 20- 4. Joey’s was led by Santo Gentile’s four hits, Kevin Kirby’s three hits, including a home run and Tony Oliverio’s three hits.

NeNe’s Kitchen, 15, Cocomo’s, 9

NeNe’s Kitchen, behind good field work by Jason Berning at second base, Pat McGuire at shortstop and Wes Alberry in the outfield, held Cocomo’s in check long enough to stay undefeated. NeNe’s jumped out to a quick lead, but Cocomo’s was able to make close, until NeNe’s pulled away behind hits from Jason Berning, Bobby Natalie and Brad Frazier.

Kretch’s, 14, DaVinci’s, 9

Kretch’s fell behind early, but mounted a rally in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, led by Gregg Caspio and Frank Polanco’s three hits each. Dee Yearwood blasted a home run as well. DaVinci’s lost it second in a row and is now four games back of NeNe’s. John Sally had three hits and Mark Feola had two, including a double for DaVinci’s.

Marco Island Brewery, 23, Islander Pool, 14

Andrew Border’s five hits paced the “Brew Crew.” Teammate Ryan Richardson added four hits and Marco Magdalener, Dusty Drenth, John LaCava and Trent Emerson all had four hits as the Brew improved to four wins. Islander Pool, behind Justin Board’s five hits, was able to score 14 runs, but it was not enough in the face of the Brew Crew’s hitting.

Adult Softball is played every Thursday, beginning at 6:10 p.m., at Winterberry Park and Tommie Barfield Field.
