Signups start for baseball league for disabled kids, young adults

Coming to a Little League ballpark near you

The Collier County Challenger League -- a Little League for disabled youth -- is starting registrations.

"Looking for a place for your child to play? Our league is specially designed for disabled youth between the ages of 4-22,'' project officials say.

"Our athletes get great exercise, learn the basics of baseball and most importantly, experience personal growth by learning to play in a team sport and work together with other children just like them.''

Signups starts Saturday from 9-11a.m. at Starcher Petty Field North Naples Little League field on 111th Avenue North next to Naples Park Elementary School.

"Look for us at other Little Leagues' opening days around the county!,'' says parent Carrie Cooney, who can be contacted at 239-273-4822 or cacjmc@comcast.net.

"Hope to see you out there on the field!''
