Thieves steal 12-year-old girl's soccer equipment from mom's car

A young girl is disappointed after someone entered her mother's car and stole her soccer equipment.

Deborah Smith, the girl's mother, told deputies someone entered her 2006 Volvo, which was parked in the driveway of their Bonita Springs home. The theft occurred between Feb. 7 and Feb. 9, according to a Lee incident report.

Smith says her 12-year-old daughter, a member of the Bonita Springs Charter School Soccer Team, asked, "Who would do this? I'm a kid."

Smith believes whoever took the equipment had to know it belonged to a little girl since, among other items, the bag contained a pink soccer ball and her daughter's special goalie jersey.

Smith's daughter has played soccer since age four and was very disappointed when she had to tell her coach about the missing jersey.

The monetary value of the equipment is estimated at $308.
