Dottie’s 17th Annual Duck Derby: 11 a.m., March 10 (rain or shine): This March we celebrate the 17th Annual YMCA Duck Derby that raises funds for the betterment of the Marco Island YMCA aquatic center. This year’s fundraiser will provide funding for necessary repairs to the pool pumps and wells, in addition funds will help with operational and maintenance expenses necessary for the pool and surrounding areas of the Aquatics Center.
The 2012 derby will feature fun in the sun and rainy day ducks. This theme will carry through all the festivities planned for the day. Refreshments are available at Dottie’s Pavilion and pool is open for swimming and pool games after the races.
It is now time to register for your favorite ducks. The categories of racers are:
Category Cost
Regular Racer $15/duck or $25/two ducks
Celebrity Fun in the Sun Racer $30/duck (ducks are yours to keep)
Corporate Rainy Day Racer $30/duck (ducks are yours to keep)
Purchase One Each – Celebrity and One Corporate Duck ($50 for both)
Preliminary races for the “regular ducks” will culminate in a final race that pays $300 to the winner, $200 for the second place racer and $100 for third place. (You do not need to be present to win.) The celebrity race and corporate race final winners will each receive a “special duck prize.”
