Barron gets help from Lely in Cougars win

Mistakes and playing a good Barron Collier team, resulted in a 12-1 loss for the Lely softball team on Thursday night.

In the first inning Barron plated four runs on just two hits. The Lady Cougars parlayed three walks and a key Lely error in the inning.

Lely’s Navia Penrod provided Lely’s only run off her triple to right centerfield. Lely’s only other hit was a single by Amanda Corey.

Barron pitcher Briana Bartuccio twirled a two-hitter for the win as the Lady Cougars moved their early season record to 3-0. Lexi Corrente and Kaitlin Conway had run-producing doubles.

Lely is now 2-3

Lely coach Jess Millar said, “We had too many mental errors to win against a good program. We have to regroup.”
