Estates man gets 25 years for possessing child pornography

A Golden Gate Estates man was sentenced Monday to 25 years in prison after pleading no-contest in one of the county's biggest child pornography cases.

Julio Marin-Rios, 43, accepted the plea agreement nearly a year after his arrest on hundreds of child pornography charges, when deputies found videos and images of underage boys engaging in sex acts.

At the time, deputies said Marin-Rios' had "one of the largest collections of child pornography every seen in Collier County." Deputies identified the boys as ages 5 to 14.

Marin-Rios was arrested in March 2011 and charged with 30 counts of child pornography possession. He was charged with an additional 270 counts in July 2011.

The plea agreement also includes 10 years of sex offender probation after the prison term. He was being held in jail on $3.45 million bond.
