— The driver in a Thursday morning fatal crash in Lely Resort has been identified by Florida Highway Patrol troopers as 21-year-old Christopher Hintz.

Hintz, an East Naples resident, was driving north on Grand Lely Drive near Ashton Road at about 4 a.m. when he lost control of his BMW 740IL, troopers said. The vehicle crossed over a median, hit a curb and overturned. Hintz was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said Hintz was not wearing a seat belt. It's unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the crash. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
