A North Naples man faces a battery charge after deputies said he grabbed a 14-year-old by the throat and sweatshirt following a bike crash.
David R. Kent, 57, of the 1300 block of Park Lake Drive, was arrested by Collier deputies at about 6:45 p.m. Monday near U.S. 41 and 99th Avenue North.
Witnesses reported the 14-year-old crashed into Kent while trying to cross U.S. 41 on his bicycle, clipping Kent as he rode down a sidewalk, an arrest report said. Kent became enraged and grabbed the teenager by the throat and shirt, dragging him to a car and calling for the police, witnesses said.
The 14-year-old told Kent that he didn't intentionally cause the crash, witnesses said. Kent told deputies that he was calm after the crash, the report said.
Kent faces a misdemeanor battery charge.
