NAPLES — Eight months after she was arrested for shooting and killing her boyfriend's pregnant pit bull, an East Naples woman received three years in prison on animal cruelty, battery and weapons possession charges Tuesday.
Kelly Mills Gresham, 44, pleaded no-contest Tuesday to five charges related to the shooting, which Collier County sheriff's deputies said followed an argument with her boyfriend. She was also fined $2,500.
Deputies said Gresham drunkenly argued with her boyfriend during a night out with friends, then punched him in the face during the drive home.
Once they arrived, Gresham went to the bedroom where she said to her boyfriend, "You wanna hear something funny," an arrest report said. She then shot and killed her boyfriend's pregnant pit bull, deputies said.
Gresham pleaded no-contest to two counts of weapons possession by a convicted felon and single counts of animal cruelty causing death, battery and shooting a deadly weapon into a dwelling. She received credit for 73 days served.
