Letter: God particle cartoon shocking

It was offensive at best. When I was reading the letters to the editor section of the paper on Dec. 24, I was appalled and shocked at the political cartoon that was published. Who approved such a thing? This was a mockery of the Christ child, and for this to be published on his birthday was unforgivable. This is one of the holiest of holidays, with only Easter being the other important religious holiday that is celebrated.

I cannot believe that someone would compare the Christ child to a "god particle." In the cartoon, the god particle looks like a piece of dust or a dot. What is this world coming to? There are those who want to get rid of the Nativity scene, cross, and any other religious icon, and for what? Everyone in this country is entitled to their religious beliefs.

Have you seen this adage anywhere: Let's keep Christ in Christmas. There isn't even a baby in the manger. I think someone was sitting on their brain. If this was supposed to be a funny political cartoon, he/she missed the boat.

I do not know what others thought about this cartoon, but I think it stinks. It was very bad judgment on your part to even think about publishing this cartoon.
