Man threatens deputies, their families after his girlfriend calls 911 on him

A Largo man is accused of threatening to kill deputies and their families after his girlfriend called 911 on him for being extremely intoxicated and threatening to kill her and her daughter.

Jorel Ellis, 36, of the 3900 block of McKay Creek Circle, was arrested Monday by Collier County sheriff's deputies in the 3700 block of Pine Ridge Road.

According to reports, when deputies arrived on scene, they observed Ellis standing by a van while his girlfriend was carrying a television.

Ellis’ girlfriend told deputies that he had threatened her and her family by saying he would kill them and cut them into pieces.

Deputies then attempted to place Ellis in the back of the patrol car but he began to resist and kicked the deputies, according to reports. Deputies said he also started to threaten their lives and his own.

Further investigation revealed that the altercation between Ellis and his family started at a relative’s house as a result of him being intoxicated and calling his daughter and wife demeaning names and then tried to attack them both, according to reports.

During his arrest, Ellis told deputies he had just finished serving 13 years in prison on drug charges.

He faces two counts of assault, battery and assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting law enforcement with violence.
