EAST NAPLES — After telling a customer she did have a lost iPad, a local dollar store manager ended up in jail for having the electronic device, deputies say.
Veronica Damaso, 23, of the 4300 block of Normandy Drive, was arrested Wednesday by Collier deputies at Family Dollar, located inside the Gulfgate Plaza.
The victim told deputies that while she was shopping at the Family Dollar she had been holding her iPad and she accidentally set it down and left it there.
However, when the victim went back to the store to report that she believed she had left her iPad there, the manager, Damaso, told her they did not find it and they are not responsible for any customer's lost or stolen items inside their store, according to arrest reports.
The victim told deputies that Damaso's behavior was suspicious when she was speaking to her and that she thought she saw her iPad behind the counter but she left her name and number and left the store regardless.
But the victim said she had a funny feeling about Damaso so she then contacted deputies for their assistance, according to reports.
Deputies said when they requested the store's surveillance tapes Damaso became nervous. Deputies then told her that the iPad also had a GPS so they would definitely be locating the stolen item, according to reports.
At that time, Damaso then made a confession to deputies and was arrested on a felony charge of grand theft.

Ha...ha....seems there are a lot of "losers" in many establishments. Guess .."You get what you pay for." Then again...in some businesses...the owners themselves are questionable!
